Serving as a guardian on a Volusia Honor Air flight is an important job.

As a guardian, it is your primary responsibility to care for your vet(s), and ensure his or her safety, at all times.
It is NOT a sightseeing experience for you the guardian, but all about caring for your veteran(s).
You will be assigned one (1) or two (2) veterans, depending upon their mobility and overall health.
In addition to a $500 guardian fee, as a guardian you will be required to attend 2 meetings prior to the actual flight.
Attendance at both of the meetings below is mandatory for all guardians.

For a guardian application to be accepted, a $500 guardian donation must be submitted along with the application.
If such guardian is not selected to go on the flight, the guardian will have the option of having their $500 donation refunded.
However, once a guardian is selected, in no instances will their $500 donation be refunded if canceled 30 days or less prior to the flight.

The first meeting is for guardians only, and it will be held at the Deland Elk's Lodge, 150 S. Clara Ave, in DeLand, FL from 10am to noon. At the guardian's meeting, you will learn what vets you have been assigned, and be fully briefed on your guardian responsibilities. They include ensuring your veteran(s) have transportation to and from the Preflight Orientation Brunch, as well as transportation to and from Daytona Beach International Airport the day of the flight.

The second meeting is a Preflight Orientation Brunch. It will be held either at the ICI Center at Embry Riddle or Daytona State College from 10am - noon.
